A Husband

Below is what God says about being a Husband.

Genesis 2:23-25

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Proverbs 18:22

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. 

Proverbs 19:14

House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. 

Matthew 5:33-37

Jesus Teaches about Vows

“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven for it is God’s throne; or by earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. 

Colossians 3:19

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians 5:25-33

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands out to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for the body, just as Christ does the church – for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery – but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

Hebrews 13:4

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

1 Peter 7 

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
